Additionally, AUB's Medical Center ('AUBMC') established in 1902, is a private not for profit teaching healthcare facility, serving the community and training medical and paramedical professionals. AUBMC is currently the only medical institution in the Middle Fast with the three international accreditations of the Joint Commission International (JCI), Magnetยฎ, and the College of American Pathologists (CAP) attesting to its superior standards in patient-centered care, nursing, and pathology/laboratory services. With around 300,000 patient visits throughout the past year, AUBMC is committed to improving the delivery of health care in Lebanon and the region. 1.2 Overview AUB "The Faculty of Health Sciences" is requesting offers from qualified consultants for the provision of Data Collection services for the "Dementia and Related Health and Social Challenges in Lebanon: A Population Study" project as per the detailed scope of work specified under Appendix B. The research study aims to investigate the burden of dementia and cognitive functioning and related personal, social, and health challenges in the older population of Lebanon, particularly in two areas: Beirut and Zahle. The study population consists of 3000 older adults aged 60 years or older. This study uses traditional quantitative survey methods, with all instruments to be used developed by the AUB research team. In order to recruit participants with the mentioned eligibility criteria, enumeration of all households in selected areas of Beirut and Cazaa Zahle will be conducted. This will be followed by the administration of a questionnaire and the collection of anthropometric measurements from the older adults, as well as the mapping of certain characteristics of the neighborhood. Additionally, phone surveys will be administered to an informant that the older adult selects during the questionnaire. GOALS AND OBJECTIVE Methods: Sample selection and data collection for a cross-sectional survey Target: We are requesting support to implement household enumeration and data collection through 3,000 questionnaires from eligible households using our own developed tools. This study will use a probability sampling procedure by means of a multi-stage stratified cluster method, to identify and reach our target populations in Beirut and Zahle. The survey will be conducted face-to-face on a sample size of 3,000 respondents aged 60 years or above and a household member aged above 18 years old and it will be followed by a phone survey with 3,000 key informants identified and chosen by the respondents. The data collection period is scheduled to be completed from the beginning of July 2023 till mid-October 2023. SCOPE OF SERVICES A number of 100 clusters (I.e., enumeration areas), In each of Beirut and Zahle, will be selected randomly on the map by the AUB team, lolaling 200 duslei. These clusters are grids with a maximum of 200 meters by 200 meters superimposed onto the Beirut and Zahle area using geographical information systems. Of note, the service provider is required to recruit local data collectors that reside in each of the selected areas. This is essential considering respondents are more likely to participate when the data collectors are local and are familiar with the study area. This entails that 30-40 data collectors from Zahle will cover Zahle for the first 1.5 months (first 1500 participants) and those residing in Beirut will cover Beirut for the second 1.5 months (second 1500). The AUB research team will conduct two training workshops for the data collectors from each area separately. Deadline: 27 Feb 2023
