DRI is looking for an expert in Municipal Project Management to train around 50 municipal council members and potential candidates who are keen to run for the upcoming municipal elections. Background Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a non-partisan, independent, not-for-profit organisation registered in Berlin. It has been established in Lebanon since 2016. DRI promotes political participation of citizens, accountability of state bodies and the development of democratic institutions worldwide. Democratic discourse is the basis of our mission and vision. In our work, we facilitate discussion and exchange about democratic government and the need for a continuous discourse adhering to democratic rules.  In the framework of its Lebanon project “A bottom-up reform agenda for Lebanon: Supporting youth, women, and civil society actors to expand civic space”, DRI is empowering elected municipal councils and potential candidates who wish to run for the upcoming municipal elections, all genders included, by delivering trainings on good-governance to promote citizen-centric and gender-responsive actions. The Project management training is one of a series of seven training sessions delivered to around 25 participants in two selected areas: Beirut and Tripoli. Therefore, DRI is looking for a Municipal Project Management Expert to train around 50 participants in two selected areas (Beirut and Tripoli). The session will introduce the participants to the importance of conceptualising projects based on municipal strategic planning and propose relevant tools and methods to plan and execute municipal projects effectively, taking into consideration the buy-in of the local communities. Following the training, participants should be able to better manage, monitor, and control the efficiency of the projects using the right tools. Duties and responsibilities Under the supervision of DRI-s Programme Manager, the Expert will: Develop interactive and detailed training modules, a training session plan, and all accompanying background materials (½ expert day); Deliver two full-day training sessions to municipal council members and potential candidates (1 expert day in Beirut, and 1 Expert Day in Tripoli) following an interactive, engaging approach, e.g., discussion activities, exercises, role plays; (two expert days in total); Prepare pre- and post-training test modules to be shared with the participants before and after the training sessions, once validated by DRI; Once the training is completed, submit a training report summarising the training outcomes and the pre/post training tests results, and reflecting the trainees- increase in knowledge as per the template provided by DRI (½ expert day).  Your Skills & Experience  At least 7 years of proven experience in project management; Solid practical knowledge and command of implementing municipal grants; Strong training skills in project management with public authorities using interactive methods; Previous experience with non-profit and/or international donor organisations; Working proficiency in Arabic and English.
